DUBBO residents gave the thumbs up to the new range of pies made by former NRL player Sean Garlick.
After playing for the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Sydney Roosters he decided he wanted to try something new and exciting.
“My brother had just finished his pastry apprentice and worked at the local pie store,” he said.
“After a while he got tired working there and started to be a truck driver.”
Mr Garlick said he convinced his brother to open a pie shop and to use his talent to make the best pies in the state.
“We were lucky because I was on The Footy Show and they had a pie eating competition and it boosted our sales from day one,” he said.
One store turned to 13 in Sydney and now the store makes 10,000 pies a day.
Garlo’s Pies are available at Crutcher’s IGA.
