DUMBLEYUNG had a number of representatives playing in Narrogin last weekend in the newly titled One Life Junior Hockey Carnival.

Dumbleyung first sent a team to this event in 1991 but of late the Dumbleyung juniors have been part of the Upper Great Southern teams.

Those that competed this year include Danee Bairstow, Trystan Strachan and Brooke Carew Reid (under 11 girls), Jack Pearce (under 11 boys), Marshall Henry (under boys) and Tiffany Gossage and Erin Ladyman (under 13 girls).

The under 11 girls and boys both made the grand final playoff, but each went down 3-1.

One Life also sponsored an exhibition match over the weekend, in which two former Dumbleyung junior players were involved.

Aaron Ward was chosen to play in the President’s XI, while Andrew Bairstow represented the State Men’s Country Team which will head to Bendigo this week for the Country Championships.

It was a great exhibition match, and was followed by a goalie versus player shoot out, as will be seen at the Olympics in place of the penalty flicks if a draw was to eventuate.

Congratulations also went to Lachlan Ward for his inclusion in the under 15 state trial squad, with the state team to be selected from the 35 players who remain in the trial squad.
