Club patron Geoff Ward was able to return to play on the day along with a visitor from Mandurah Country Club.

Some excellent scores ensured, no doubt some players lifted for the occasion given the number of times Ward’s name appears on the honour boards in the clubhouse.

A-grade was won by the consistent Gerard Hegarty with a tidy 42 points, with Peter Jenkin taking second place with 38 points.

Other notable scores were Phil Sprigg with 37 and Warren Holt with 36 points.

B-grade was won by Ken George, who is having a good year to date, with 43 points with Mark Haverkort coming second on 40 points.

Bob Stephens and Alan Retallack were next best with 35 points each.

Nearest the pins was won by Ken Adams (third), Gerard Hegarty (eighth) and Jason Catchpole (16th).

On Thursday, scroungers had the standard nine players with Reece Taylor winning the day on a countback from Dave Hill, both with 19 points.

No scroungers will be held today as the Wagin Ladies’ Open will be held instead.

There will be a par game next Saturday, sponsored by the Wagin Motel and also the Darken Open will be held that weekend.

The 25th anniversary is fast approaching with a big weekend planned for August 3 and 4.

Friday will be a nine-hole scroungers event with the Anniversary Cup being played on the Saturday followed by a dinner.

Entries for these events, or just the dinner on Saturday, close this Saturday and anyone who is planning to attend is asked to let Kevin Ball know as soon as possible if they haven’t already done so.

Call Kevin Ball on 9861 1210 or 0427 611 210.
