Cracks are beginning to show with some teams while others are surging ahead.

There’s not much between the top three teams of division one with Workies Firebirds currently on top of the ladder at 45 points. Henry’s Hustlers and Even More Amazing are equal on 35 with the Hustlers in front on points for and against tally.

Workies Combos have a strong lead in division 2/3 while in division 4 there are only three points between Workies Angels and Omega Hotshots.

Division 5 has Workies Fireworks on top of the ladder with Allstar Illusion only four points behind.

Division 1

Henry Hustlers defeated Allight Illusions 63-33: The shooting of Chelsea Noon, Brianna Clark and Kristen Sutherland gave Hustlers a strong attack, resulting in an early lead. Hustlers pulled ahead in the second quarter but Illusions Rebecca Manton and Brooke Dowsett fought hard.

Even More Amazing defeated Talisman Illusions on a forfeit.

Division 2

Omega Druids defeated Workies Phoenix 50-12: Druids were far too strong for Phoenix who were two players down. Julia Collins often intercepted for Druids. Racquel Turvey and Lisa Kirkland controlled the goal circle to perfection.

Michelle Cummins and Hannah Muir showed good support in the mid court for Phoenix and Caitlyn Young, playing up from the Vipers, performed strongly.

Workies Combos defeated Workies Waratahs 50-21: Top of the ladder for division two, Workies Combos are yet to go down. Waratahs’ younger players are becoming more confident, fine tuning their skills.

Names to watch out for are Beth Flynn, Bonnie Sutherland and Gabbie Knight.

Donnybrook Hotel Illusions defeated Portland Pumas 22-14.

Division 4

Workies Angels defeated Workies Vipers 33-12: There was outstanding defence in the first quarter by Angels Paige Dowsett and Amy Jones which kept Vipers’ score down even though possession was even.

Goal score combination of Amy Muir and Monique Rust made the most of every opportunity. Anna Kennedy and Madalen Griffiths worked hard defending in the Angels’ goal circle however it was not enough to halt scorers Monique Rust and Stephanie Bird. This game was a great display of two young teams working positively towards their future in Lithgow netball.

Omega Hotshots defeated Workies Fireflies 29-10: In high winds both teams worked hard. Hotshots proved too strong, with strong defence from Alison Kay and Mar-tha Sheehan. Bec Drury-Doohan, Mayghan Phillips and Ebony Bastian were spot on in the goal circle while Georgia Bastian and Tayla Hewitt kept the Fireflies attack to a minimum.

Brooke Dean worked hard in defence for the Fireflies with Keely Miller and Genna Bailey making the most of their limited possession in goals.

Allstar Illusions defeated Workies Monstars 44-1: With only six players Monstars were outclassed by the more experienced Illusions. Tahnee Lamborn and Carly Sharp shot with confidence to give the Illusions a strong lead. For Monstars Isabella Wright played enthusiastically while Beth McGovern improves every week in defence and attack positions. Both teams enjoyed their game and put in 100 per cent effort despite the score difference.

Division 5

Workies Fireworks defeated Workies Dragonflies 37-7: The excellent shooting by Bec Beke played a large roll in the run-away win. Sophie Quince moved superbly around the circle to aid Bec and her shooting was spot on. Serena Ma and Morgan Stonelel combined well to help in Fireworks’ winning effort.

For Dragonflies Edwina Griffiths played an all-over great game while Taylah Harrington did extremely well in her position as goal keeper.

Workies Butterflies defeated Workies Sparkles 10-9: With only one point the difference Sparkles and Butterflies are showing the strength of their individual players.

Both teams had the ball going from one end of the court to the other as they went goal for goal.

GOOD DUAL: Waratahs’ Alison Pearce attempts to get a shot away as Combos’ Karen Lennon moves in. lm081612netball
