THE 2011-12 swimming season has been a challenging one for the club and it came to an end with members gathering together on Saturday night to reflect on the achievements and fun times over the past six months.

All of the swimmers received certificates highlighting the number of personal best times achieved over the season and a number of swimmers received special awards recognising their achievements.

Awards were presented to the most improved male swimmer Kyle Hamersley, most improved female swimmer Erin Ladyman, encouragement awards to Bryn Hamersley and Damon Watt, runner-up club champion Erin Ladyman and club champion Thalia Davidson.

The swimmers’ choice award is a perpetual trophy that was donated to the club by life members John and Joan Johannson.

All of the swimmers individually voted for the swimmers choice award, selecting the swimmer they felt had the best season, was a good sport and role model.

This year it went to Thalia Davidson.

The Tony Jackson trophy was presented to Kelly Edwards for all the time and effort she put into co-ordinating fundraising activities for the club over the season.

There were many highlights from the season, despite the challenges faced by swimmers not being able to train in the town pool.

They are looking forward to seeing the works completed at the pool over the winter and starting the 2012-13 in the beautiful new facilities.

The club thanked the coaches Stuart Johannson and Ray Cutforth for all the time, effort and kilometres they clocked up travelling, transporting and training swimmers over the season.

Their commitment to the club has been greatly appreciated.
